W. Wilson Goode gives a victory sign after voting in the Philadelphia mayoral election in 1983. He became the city’s 1st black mayor. As mayor, Goode ordered an airstrike on a mostly black neighborhood, destroying nearly 4 city blocks, killing 6 children, and leaving 250 people homeless [800 x 533].

Correction: The bombing killed five children, not six.
[1985 MOVE bombing](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1985_MOVE_bombing)
>He was a member of the Reserve Officers Training Corps while attending Morgan State and entered the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant in the military police.
Fetterman would be proud.

That doesn’t sound very goode at all
Wow…. That took a turn
Title is not a fair description of the situation and context of the MOVE bombing
the title made it sound like he didn’t like a part of a neighborhood and somehow ordered a airstrike
wut
Wait – a mayor can order an airstrike?
If the MOVE bombing went down in 2015 instead of 1985 it would have been one of the biggest infamous incidents in US history rather than something only locals alive back then and Philly history buffs remember.
