My wife is not on reddit but one time she was talking to her doctor about having some sharp pains in her lower stomach/ovary area. She asked the dr if it could be an ovarian cyst and his response was “well I don’t know I don’t have ovaries”.
It was an cyst and she was fine but never went back to him

I had a doctor complaining to me about my weight, telling me I needed to lose weight, and I had overweight put as a risk factor in my file.
I was 2kg (4lb) over the threshold. Oh and it was just before I GAVE BIRTH. I was carrying a large baby and a bunch of fluid so I lost over 10kg (22lb) in baby weight + fluid etc by giving birth (I weighed myself 5 days after giving birth and I was in the healthy weight range again).

I was 21 weeks pregnant with a ruptured appendix and told I just needed to calm down from anxiety and to lose weight. Had to call my OB so she could raise hell at the ER.

Jesus Christ.
I don’t even know what I’d expect a doctor to like, do for that. I guess just stop the patient from dying and trying to minimize the damage already done? Part of it is just gone.

My midwives told me to go to a specialist because I’ve had chronic hip since I was a child and they wanted to make sure it wouldn’t affect the pregnancy. The ‘specialist’ was convinced the pain was due to pregnancy and wouldn’t hear me out

I had an arrogant British doctor wearing cowboy boots (in Virginia) refuse to give me iv fluids once when I was dehydrated because of something that happened to his wife (??). I had had weight loss surgery the prior year and was getting over diarrhea and felt like crap because I was dehydrated and it was hard to drink water because it felt like a rock in my stomach. He basically just chewed me out for saying I drank coffee and sent me on my way.

Have you tried having children? Pregnancy cures everything from broken bones to cancer in women! Or perhaps losing weight?

I was passing gallstones, and was told I was having a panic attack, because of how hard i was breathing from pain. Was sent home. Wanna know how I learned it was gallstones? I pooped them out. Lots and lots of small stones, just being pooped out, the next day I had a bowel movement. Just a little procession of greenish colored devil stones, that caused so much pain, that I dropped to the floor. Looked like I emptied some aquarium gravel, out of my butthole, along with my poo. Once the doctor realized yes, those were indeed gallstones, I was give an ultrasound of my gallbladder and aside for a few stubborn ones still hanging out, it was almost entirely emptied of them. I would have chosen giving birth again, over passing them the first time. Especially since so many of them decided to leave at the same time. I don’t really like doctors anymore.

I complained for years about a pain in my lower right abdomen. Multiple X-rays, ct-scans. Different doctors. They all just shrugged and said there was nothing in imaging. I subsequently had a temp ileostomy fitted because of my bowel issues caused by cEDS and *surprise* my appendix and lower abdomen was full of endometriosis. The surgeon gave me an appendectomy and cleared out the endo tissue while he was in there. Ive had two more surgeries in my abdomen for my cEDS and while they are in there, they clear out any endo tissue they find.

A: Doctor

Obviously this is an extreme exaggeration, but yes. I was telling a male friend how angry I was that I couldn’t get painkillers for my debilitating back injury, and he told me he was always prescribed painkillers. I could barely walk at the time, was eventually bedridden for two weeks before my surgery, and they had my MRI films. But sure, it was all in my head.

I was in early labor with contractions 5 minutes apart and the doctor told me I was imagining it and to go to his office when it opened at 9. I told him I was going to the hospital and he said, “Fine, waste your money!” And hung up on me. My daughter was born about an hour later.

Yup. Been there.
Me:but I’m pooping 12-15 times a day. There looks like blood in my poop. The poop looks like light brown play doh and it’s shaped like a pencil.
Doctor:sounds like IBS. If it persists you may need to talk to your therapist about it.
I had colon cancer but okay. I’d be dead today if I didn’t find a doctor who took a woman seriously.
