This is my grandmother who is pregnant with my uncle when these were taken. Rural NH.

    My grandfather was in basic in Mississippi at the start of WWII and she ran the farm (pregnant, then, with a newborn) until he was home.

    1. Great photo, a very impressive lady. Fun fact: During World War II, many areas of the country started training rural women how to maintain, drive and operate tractors and connected machinery (“Tractorettes”, some of the students were nicknamed). When the fellas got back, many of them were surprised but pretty happy to suddenly have additional “skilled help” even in peacetime!
