To try to get ahead of these comments acting like dentists/orthodontists are stupid or money hungry for doing braces on baby teeth, this is very very common. Some patients require early intervention when they have a mix of baby and permanent teeth in order to “set the stage” for the permanent teeth to properly erupt. Patients will then get a second phase of braces when their permanent teeth are all present. Many orthodontists recommend patients coming in for consultations by age 7 to make sure that they are potentially catching issues before they cause bigger problems as the patient continues to grow. This is not required for everyone, many patients are fine waiting until all of their adult teeth are in, but braces on baby teeth are not unusual.

    2. I guess unless you don’t have kids now you don’t realize times have changed and kids get braces super young now.

    3. Happen to my son when he had braces in 3rd grade, the orthodontist said it was the first time he’d seen that.

    4. I had one baby tooth left that they pulled before I got my braces put on. The adult tooth underneath was coming in so crooked that it hadn’t worn down the roots of the baby tooth, allowing it to stay in longer

    5. Back in my day (I’m 30 lol) my ortho would just rip out my baby teeth by hand. The entire reason I have a fear of dentists now😭😂

    6. Haha this will probably happen to my son too. He has braces on two of his baby teeth as well.
