Umaru-chan is based on his sister. she is perfect in outside, lazy in home, this inspire the idea of Umaru-chan. around 2015, His sister diagnosed with a rare disease and live in hospital. Around 2017 she passed away. He didn’t reveal it at that time because he dont want readers feel sad for this comedy. He reveal it now because he hope people don’t forget about Umaru-chan also won’t forget about his sister.

It’s a very bittersweet thing to find out about the anime. But, that’s such a sweet, wholesome gesture. I’ll keep her memory in mind whenever I see that cute little goblin.
