I liked the photos that Arnold took on The Misfits set, Monroe playing around loose in jeans, she was in her element. But quite honestly, I hate the studio session they did later. Marilyn was at her lowest ebb, divorced from Miller, Gable gone, after a tumultuous, exhausting, unhappy shoot, still carrying weight that came from prescription drugs new doctors would ease her away from. She was still game, but really needed to recuperate, which is exactly what she did the rest of 1961, more or less. Arnold famously said Marilyn photographed ten pounds less than what she was, perhaps homing the learning she got as a model in her salad days.
God damn, I always thought this woman was exceptionally beautiful! She is amazing.
