This has happened when my legs have been in casts. Hair always comes out super dark and thick. Dunno how scientific it is but one nurse suggested it’s akin to a seed, which grows best in the dark

Ah yes that’s because hair is made out of the same materials as bones and when you broke your bone it added more hair material to your hand area this causing higher extrusion through your hair follicles. Source: I’m not a doctor.

In short, the fracture signals the body to increase the flow of blood and nutrients to the affected area to facilitate healing. Hypertrichosis is a side-effect.

probably due to a lack of friction and exposure to sunlight. Sunlight makes hair lighter, and friction thins out hair. Just my theory

You lose a lot of body hair to friction. Being in a cast means it wasn’t getting any of that. This is just how your wrists would normally look. Guessing you wear a lot of gloves for work or normally wear long shirts with tight cuffs.
It’s the same reason many people have spots without hair on their thighs. The friction of the phone/keys in your pocket rubs the hair off.

Same thing happened when I had my leg in a cast (only my leg got hairier obviously). Hope your healing process is going well.

I injured my arm in one spot in a fall a few years ago. There was a weird patch of hair over it. It felt so weird because my arms are basically hairless.

If it turns green and your sleeve starts to rip, that’s when you really need to be concerned

I think it has something to do with whatever your body does to heal a broken bone.
I’m too lazy to Google lol

I am not even sure these two arms belong to the same person. Please take a picture with both your arms in the same frame.

This happened to me about 15 years ago when I broke my knuckle and was in a cast for about 3 months. I honestly found it super weird, but I would say that it somewhat evens out after some time (the good arm got harrier lol)

My kid broke his thumb and now it’s flat and fat 😂.
