The most remarkable object from the tomb, was a jade-and-shell mosaic death mask that once covered the face of the Maya king. 349 CE [2304×5313]

The discovery of beautiful and intact treasures like this are always wonderful with so many, many grave sites having been pillaged and lost to collectors or their metals melted down for money

For reference Caracol had a population orbiting 100,000 people at its peak, which means it was bigger than any modern Belizean city. The dinasty began in 331 and ended around 800 to 900.
