History in the immediate aftermath of ww1 was so weird. The various independence wars against Russia, the Russian civil war, attempted Communist revolutions across the world, the 1st American red scare, black summer in America, the Spanish flu across the whole world, the complete collapse of China into a state of warlords and anarchy, various monarchys coming to an end. It was nuts! Ungern Sternberg was just one particularly weird part of east Asian history post ww1, there were a ton of other crazy and interesting warlords of that era in Mongolia and China.

I see no context so here it goes:
It’s baron Unghern, Russian white officer of Hungarian descent. He was mentally unstable, committed a lot of atrocities and believed in Asian supremacy theory(so thought he gets a pass as a Hungarian and wanted to create new Asian empire and conquer all of Europe because Europeans became weak and lost indomitable human spirit or something). He was fighting in Siberia(though his most know achievements there are ignoring his commanders, giving himself promotions and executing random people for being red(they weren’t)). When reds got closer, he attacked Chinese-controlled Mongolia and somehow kicked them out. At first he was really respected by locals and even considered avatar of god of war, but Mongolians weren’t rich enough to supply his army(gang) and he had to move back to Russia. There he was defeated and executed by reds

This is what happens if you let a Larper become a leader of a country
[If he was only a bit more successful… we could have float an eternal war on the stock exchange.](https://youtu.be/GV7TTbjzUVU?si=SJarQdAiHraU8kEm)
