That’s how a lot of nations became relatively homogenous. France went through this as well.

There was no homogeneous nation-states, that’s why recent rants about multiculturality seems so fun to me… multiculturality of states was not the exception, but the rule before 19th century

    3. Classic National-Conscious building problem.

Most modern nation-states were never homogeneous in their demographic. The communities and groups furthest from the mainstream have their identities erased/folded into the greater whole, et voila, a homogenous nation appears.

It’s something most modern nationalists do not want to face up to because it will break a lot of creative mythmaking that had to be created to prop up the farce of “internationally enforced borders”, societies being strictly dominated by a certain race = nation, and more that I would have to research before putting it out here.

    4. Is it it like a joke in linguistiscs that Northern Germanic language are more like a dialect specctrum with cut clear differences between all the dialects in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian?
