I wonder what specific animated series with a creator thats name starts with a “G” this is paying reference to.

The only show I can think of that breaks this mold is Band of Brothers. At the end of episode eight the men of Easy are told they are coming off the line and that the war is near an end. The narrator of the episode even explains things stateside are returning back to normal. Following this, there is only one more on screen death (a nazi accused of running a concentration camp) and no combat. The men defeated their enemies and live a happy ending.
For video games it’s any time in a ATLUS JRPG they tell you it’s the final fight. I’m being serious, literally all of their games that I’ve finished does this.
