Eugene of Savoy deserves way more recognition tbh. Man saved Vienna, dismantled the Ottoman presence in Europe, and did it all while being one of the few commanders who actually understood combined arms warfare. Plus he never lost a siege which is just statistically absurd

Among European Commanders? Sure I fucking agree with you. What’s hilarious was how he initially wanted to be a soldier serving his native France, but his family laughed at him for being a nerd and King Louis 14th literally did not accept him in the army for being “effeminate & ugly.”
