That would have been almost $100 then, adjusted for inflation.

That bill has seen more history than most of us.

I have one with a red stamp, not sure of the year, just thought it was cool and different

I’d prefer a 5 year old $97 bill.

FYI– the year printed on the bill is the series not the year the bill was printed. You can narrow the actual date down using the signatures on the Bill
Countdown to three years from now when you can say you have a hundred year old bill!

Legal tender note? Def worth more than 5 bones but value going to be diminished based off quality. Very cool though. I’ve got a stack of silver cert 5 dollar bills from my GPA somewheres in my safe. I’ve got 8 or 9 of them as he would give me one for a bday present, or a cool two dollar bill etc.

I’d hang onto it for as long as possible. Maybe even pass it down again.

[William Alexander Julian](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Alexander_Julian) was the Treasurer from 06/01/33 to 05/29/49
[John Wesley Snyder](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Wesley_Snyder) was the Secretary of the Treasury from 06/25/46 to 01/20/53
…so the bill is from 1946-1949, about 76-79 years old.
I was always lead to believe you aren’t supposed to take pictures of or photocopy money. Was that ever true?
Oh look… it doesn’t say “In god we trust”.
1928!!! God bless this beautiful queen
I love old style money. Please don’t spend it.
I hope you at least did a good job on her lawn.
Is it bigger than a modern $5 bill?
technically not legal tender, but probably has some collector value. [Red Seal, Blue Seal, Gold Note, Silver Note](https://www.greatamericancoincompany.com/blogs/news/red-seal-blue-seal-gold-note-silver-note)
I have one. It’s worth $8
Whoa, they had color back then?
I have a red print $2 bill.
