Meanwhile in the USA, my hometown is constructing a 6 mile new build road that is 5 years in and only 2 miles are complete.

Iraqis deserve the best after USA malice befell them, my heart is with them from Egypt ♥️

    3. Dang, step up from the blasted heap that we were struggling to put back together (after blowing it up ourselves) when I was there in 2004/2007. Good to see.

    4. Iraq is the land of Mesopotamia a country with a very deep roots and culture from Sumerians,Akkadians ,Assyrians to modern Iraq …with that being said that land went throughout wars for thousands of years but they always rise …But yet regardless of religion differences Iraqis are some of the most welcoming people in the world I mean go see how they treat foreigners visiting Iraq now a days it don’t matter if you are American or none American…iraqis are truly amazing people.

All i see is ugly apartment complexes highly likely leading to unbearable traffic in the coming years.

Baku did similar projects, not on this scale and i hated living there. This looks way worse.

The US is falling behind. We’re stuck building single family housing. Every other developing country has high rises up to their armpits. We have 1.5 million people living in cars. It’s sooo dumb.

I’m so glad we spent 20 years and almost $1 trillion building up a country that now gets to suckle on better services and infrastructure than we have the United States oh joy oh joy..

Called globalization. The irony is something the USA is responsible for.

Also the economy of Iraq is small. Easy to concentrate all the economic returns in one area. If you look at the rest of the country it will be sparse.

The US economy is spread out. Because something called equity. Something Redditors is indifferent towards because they lean to some commie ideology.

Let’s check back in 20 years when all that infastructure has crumbled because they built it out of the worst materials known to man.

    10. A positive post about Iraq!

We finally lived to see it.

On a real note, we’re more proud of the parks and the renovations of the old city than these expensive apartments.

    11. Any background information on this video? The website i get when I type in palm towers Iraq doesnt look like the video, and it seems like smaller scale luxury high rises. The “after” video actually looks more like a skyline in a chinese city.

    12. The U.S. has provided significant funding to Iraq, primarily through the Iraq War’s immense military costs (estimated around $2 trillion total for the war by 2020). Beyond military spending, direct reconstruction aid through the Iraq Relief and Reconstruction Fund (IRRF) reached over $20 billion, with additional billions in humanitarian/development aid since 2014 (around $3.5 billion) and security assistance for military financing. In fiscal year 2023, Iraq received about $425.8 million in general U.S. foreign aid.

I really want Iraq/Bagdad to return to it’s former glory. To be fair, that was around 1000 years ago, but it does prove that the religion can actually have free thinkers and brilliant minds. (I know they still exist, it’s just not broadcast as much)

    14. This reminds me of the ghost devopments in China that never get rented and just end up getting town down in a decade or two.

Hope I’m wrong though because they could really use the win
