Every autumn, a huge golden cross appears in the forests of County Donegal, Ireland. 3000 Japanese larch trees were planted among pine trees, creating a cross pattern when the larch trees turn yellow.

The genius Liam Emery created this beautiful Celtic cross design in the woods near Killea, County Donegal. Mr. Emery created the image with two different types of trees, which must have required incredible planning skills. Mr Emery died in 2010 from brain impairment, and it wasn’t until the fall of 2016 that his remarkable invention in Killea became evident. Passengers flying into Derry Airport were the first to spot it. The cross is more than 100 meters long and 70 meters wide.
