I would consider it wholesome, except Lego is simply trying to expand and double their customer base.

On the one hand: very cool
On the other hand: clever marketing stunt to guilt parents into buying more lego for a valuable demographic the company and thus far been less effective in reaching, all while getting brownie points 🙂

Lego’s low-key been ahead of their time, fam. More co’s need to get on this level.

This is something that is more than a hollow marketing gesture. There’s goodwill, and moral sensibility, behind this.

Lego is an amazing company. Both on the engineering/manufacturing/design aspect, but especially with their company culture.
Fun fact: I got the chance to ask the COO what his personal favorite design was, and he said it was one of the old time trucker sets. I also got to give him a custom LEGO x MIT 3D printed souveneir: the visiting LEGO team designed the die, and a machine shop I was doing part-time research with actually made it. One of the coolest days of my life!
