This reminds me of that kid in high school who worked at subway and stole the stamps for free subs by the roll 🤣

I imagine that the guy with the stamp must have gotten RSI from just that one package.

There’s people on eBay who sell old US postage stamps (like from the 90’s to early 2000’s) for a slight discount (and I used one of them to send a postcard to myself so I know they’re legit) or up to 50% FV if you buy in bulk
If it’s something like that it makes sense to use a ton of stamps to pay for your package

Did Mrs Weasley send it? It’s like when she sent the Dursley’s a letter inviting Harry to the Quidditch Word Cup.

Postal agent who stamped them all has serious wrist pain now.

so i have done the same… because in china the stamps collection value is dropping straight downwards in the past 10 years… you can get a 10 dollar stamp for 7 dollar…. so i shipped myself package from China with old ass stamps and in total i saved a lot of money lol

That’s nothing. Years ago I tried to sell a collection of space patches to a gentleman for approximately $1500. He sent me a large bulging envelope full of sheets of stamps.
Turns out the guy was a US postal employee and he insisted the stamps were as good as cash.
On advice from my father, I sent the stamps back with a note reading, “Cash only”.
Never heard from the guy again.

They do this when they need to get rid of a shit load of stamps. This is the largest amount I’ve seen used.

There’s one that’s almost not stamped, if you just rip off a teeny tiny bit of the corner you can reuse it!

Is there some sort of computer scanner to tally up the total?

I ship a lot of things from Japan back to family in Canada/US – especially when I tread into grey territory (shipping a tiny bottle of alcohol, or a can of beer along side gifts. *Technically* against the rules).
I’ve used 40~ stamps of assorted value to hit the EMS postage price many times before – and always felt a bit bad as the post worker picking up the package (EMS gets free pick up) had to manually count, calculate and check the postage. Some of my family who collect stamps ***love*** saving the cancelled postage in their collection.
At the end of the day – postage is postage. Some postal systems let you ‘pay’ for postage at the counter with stamps.
I would be wary buying recent, heavily discounted stamps off ebay – as counterfeit postage hurts everybody – and there’s a flood of it currently.
Postal agencies may seize the package, return it to sender or demand payment from the customer. This is on top of it hurting the post office – especially if they have to pay terminal dues to a foreign postal administration.
