    1. I remember my grandma also had such knives, she used to sharpen her knives on the marble windowsill

    2. People don’t know about honing. They think that if a knife is dull, the only solution is to grind a new edge. Every single day.

She bought the whole knife, Can’t blame her for wanting to use *all* of it (not sure if i can include the wood in this)

    4. These ancient shivs always seem to be Dexter knives. Speaks to the quality of the brand – at least in whatever misty bygone age they were originally purchased.

    5. Before my parents met, my dad worked in a meat processing plant, he had knives like this a few of them were well used and he’d modified a few for wood carving but most were old Dexters with wooden handles. Brings back memories.

    6. That thing must have broken and then got filed down to a new shape, or it’s a dedicated whittling knife. Either way, definitely interesting.

I think that’s more ‘mildly concerning’ than “mildly interesting” 😬
