Neither of these things are socialism.
Socialism is either state or “collective” control over the means of production/markets.
Providing the public with medical coverage or subsidizing an economic sector is just the government doing things and are common in capitalist systems around the world.

They’re okay with it because it’s only going to them so they can somehow rationalize that they earned or deserve it. They’re against Medicare for all because that helps other people that aren’t them, so it treads on their selfishness. Name it Medicare for Farmers or some shit and indicate it’s something only theyll benefit from and they’ll be all for it.
