    1. LEDs acts a tiny in efficient solar cells when exposed to light, so I’m guessing the small about of current generated is triggering something in the RGB led.

      They probably are UV LEDs coated with phosphor that converts it down to visible wavelengths, the flashlight could supply a tiny amount of UV to light them up that way then. But of course, if nothing more than an interesting effect, you are not going to save any energy or anything like that, quite the opposite.
