    1. This used to be the hardware section in pretty sure, tools on the left, appliances in the far wall.

    2. I thought this was r/ malelivingspace when I first saw the picture and amazed at the size of their basement/game room.

    3. I’ve known several people who mentioned boycotting Sears for years because of some shit Sears pulled with them.

I tried to finance a washer and dryer 20 years ago, and they didn’t approve. We owned a house, two cars, and had good credit. I went to another store the next week and paid cash for a new washer and dryer. It was a better deal all around.

I never stepped foot in a Sears again.

      Tale as old as time.
Hire a CEO who works remote focused on “optimization”
      Sell off differentiators for “reasons”
      No investment in stores
No new innovation as world moves online
      Ruin reputation with empty shelves
      Death spiral
Rich guy profits and employees lose jobs.

I got to explore the Sears in Peabody before it was closed and torn down. It was quite surreal to think how busy it once was.

    6. I remember thay layout. Dreaded going to that area as a kid with my grandma constantly looking for clothes

    7. If this is Sunvalley in Concord, Sears lower level didn’t even connect to the mall for the first decade or so. The mall was two levels and the lower level sort of dead-ended near Sears. At some point, Sears expanded their basement selling space and the lower level of the mall was extended to connect to the store.

    8. The crazy thing is that they had everything already in place to be Amazon and still decided that mall stores were the future.
