Today, I pieced together a python mini package to help with anonymizing my contacts PII (Personal Identifiable Information) in preparations for my call logs analysis project (Calloscope).
The package's workflow is as follows:
1. Load a call-log XML file
2. Strip out sensitive fields (phone numbers, subscriber IDs, post-dial digits, etc.)
3. Generate salted SHA-256 hashes so each contact still has a consistent identifier
4. Map call-type codes into readable labels like incoming, outgoing, missed, etc.
