I never understood the appeal of going to a theater to buy overpriced tickets, eat overpriced food, and watch a movie in a room full of people. I could get a much better experience at home for way less money.

Already happening. I paid for five different apps last month just to watch three shows and one soccer league. Going to the movies now feels cheaper than staying home, and that’s the dystopia nobody saw coming

The cinema experience is already on hospice. With home setups getting better every year (even budget friendly setups) the *need* for the theater is waning. I can watch the same movie at home with friends for cheaper, with food that’s both better and likely better for you, and have access to pausing.
