Yesterday, I cooked a carrot and forgot to pour away the water. Now it has turned green

    1. That’s the dirt on carrot that is mixed with the water. You could see it on the surface as well.

    2. Your water is probably slightly basic (hard water usually is). The alkalinity of the water causes the pigments (carotenoids and chlorophyll) in the carrot to turn green.

    3. Well … it is the holiday season … don’t be surprised if the next time this happens, the water turns a bit red.

    4. Even the idea, of one carrot being boiled alone in a casserole, makes me feel lonely and depressed..

    5. Cooking carrots actually increases the bioavailability of beta-carotene but steaming them leaves more nutrients in the carrots instead of water

    6. Was it a peeled or unpeeled carrot? I’ve noticed unpeeled grated carrots in carrot cake batter can turn green after baking

    7. Carrots just want to turn every other colour if you give them half a chance. Ever tried purple or yellow carrots? (They taste the same, but they’re pretty.)

    8. Are we gonna not talk about the elephant in the room??!

Op cooked a single carrot. 🥕 wtf?

    9. I occasionally see a green carrot cake.

Could be utilized as a cute natural dye trick for Halloween maybe.

Green witch’s carrot pumpkin bread, idk.
