A 5th century silver plate from Gupta dynasty period North India. Harry Falk has recently theorized this to be Skandagupta's crowning by his uncle Ghatotkachagupta, however, to make this claim, he has proposed some rather radical changes to our understanding of the Gupta civil war post Emperor Kumaragupta's death in 448 CE. Falk's identification is controversial to say the least, but regardless, this plate may safely be said to depict the crowning of a young man by an older figure during the Gupta period, though perhaps not Skandagupta and Ghatotkachagupta as considered by Falk.
