Meet Father Sergio GutiƩrrez Benitez, the legendary Fray Tormenta ("Friar Storm").
In the 1970s, desperate for funds to support local abandoned children, this priest-who had overcome severe addiction in his youth-did the
unthinkable: he became a professional, masked Lucha Libre wrestler.
For years, he kept his identity secret, pouring every dollar he earned in the ring into La Casa Hogar de los Cachorros (the orphanage).

By the time his secret was revealed, his alter-ego had become a national icon.
His sacrifice saved housed, and educated over 2000 children, many of whom grew up to be successful doctors and lawyers.
Absolute legend. He proved that helping others is a contact sport.

Fun Fact: The movie Nacho Libre, starring Jack Black, is loosely based on Fray Tormenta's story!

OP Here: The most viral-worthy detail has to be his confrontation with the church. When the Bishop found out and tried to stop him, Fray Tormenta reportedly challenged him: “Fine, you feed 2,000 children and I’ll quit.” Since the church couldn’t take on the responsibility, he was allowed to continue wrestling to fund the orphanage. He retired from the ring in 2011, but still wears his mask in his duties as a priest!
Which other real-life heroes deserve a movie made about them? šŸ‘‡
