This is DOGE’s legacy.

    1. DOGE is still around. They’ve merged with OPM and have permanent positions in government now. (Max level GS-15 too) They’re only saying they’re disbanded to reduce public scrutiny and to continue their operations. Whenever democrats regain power (hopefully by midterms) they’re gonna have to purge and fire these people.

    2. Don’t forget data privacy for every US citizen.

Those hard drives they loaded everything onto went somewhere, and I doubt it was to a regulated government body.

    3. This was their goal. Cruelty was and is the point. They don’t care about the money saved or lost.

Definitely the point, they know Republicans think when Democrats do something they don’t like it’s evil Democrats and when Republicans do something they don’t like it’s “duh gubment” so they’ll never need to worry about taking blame.

    5. The thing that got the most rallied up was the maintenance worker at Yellowstone National Park talking about how he spends all day picking up TRASH from tourists, and HE got fired.

It’s one thing for the high skilled IT buffs getting fired because a bunch of them have the ability to move into the private sector. But the janitors? Maintenance crew? Landscapers? Working for the state is like the holy grail for those types of positions.

I was going to say something similar to point #1 about DOGE in another thread but there was already like 200 comments so it’s like talking into the ether

But I think the worst lasting impact from the charade of governmental efficiency is that any future endeavor will now always be compared to this and I’m sure just about anyone who can make those choices will look at the option to do anything and say “Well it’s already been tried once and it ended up costing more money than it saved, and the public reacted incredibly negatively, this is a loser idea, let’s uphold the status quo”
