Those poles and spears were carried on Beidi processions, each serving specific protection purpose, for example: Dragon-Head flair clears demons out of the way; Square-Anvil Implement is suppressing underground demons; Curved-Snake Implement absorbs poison from the demons; Crescent blade was cutting ghost shadows; Sun-Shaped Implement represents the god’s light over the city etc. There are 74 pieces in total, from cca 9 century to 19th as not all of the original survived
