    1. A perfectly timed silhouette: a skydiver captured crossing the face of the Sun for a split second. The shot was planned around the dive schedule and the Sun’s position, then taken through a solar telescope with protective filters to safely reveal sunspots and prominences. No, the jumper wasn’t anywhere near the Sun, it’s an alignment from Earth’s perspective that lasts fractions of a second
The photographer and skydiver coordinated the exact jump window so the athlete’s path lined up with the solar disc. The result is a real-time capture, not a composite, showing just how wild these alignments can look when everything lines up.

Hopefully we see OP get an award later for this amazing shot.

Photo of the Year stuff right there!

    3. The sunspots directly to his left and right and the little squiggle below his head make it look like the sun has a face and is looking at him with amazement as he’s falling.

I’ve also been awake almost 32 hours but I’m sure that’s unrelated.

Oh hey thanks for sharing my shot! This was coordinated between myself, an ultralight pilot, and my friend Gabe who is in the photo.

I do post some behind the scenes on my insta (you can find that in my bio) if you’re curious how the heck this was possible.

The photographer posted this like 2 days ago and you can’t be bothered to share the source?

    7. Amazing picture. I can’t help but think of these lyrics:

“You’ve flown far too high, boy. Now you’re too close to the Sun. Soon your makeshift wings will come undone” – Thrice “The Melting Point of Wax”
