If you hadn’t posted this ad, I never would have gotten curious, looked it up, and discovered that *all tires used to be white*. They were made with natural rubber and zinc oxide (the white stuff lifeguards use as sunscreen) for improved traction. Then someone discovered that carbon black made an even better tire, but it was used only for the treads, and the rest of it remained white. Whitewalls!
