Coincidentally, Trump pardoned the *domestic terrorists* who helped him attempt a **putsch** on January 6, 2021, just hours after Senate Democrats capitulated tonight

I’m an unaffiliated voter who has been mostly unaffected by the shutdown, and this is probably not the forum for me to voice my view here, but this seems like the most appropriate place that hasn’t been censored yet, so I’m going out on my bandwagon to spit my opinion:
The biggest problem I see here is from BOTH sides; Neither side wants to concede any territory to the other side. They’re acting like this is an US vs. THEM issue with one side the winner and one side the loser and victory goes to the side that holds out the longest. Each side has their fanbase riled up like they’re gonna play the hero and we’re all making sacrifices for the good of the team. They make pointless concessions to us like “oh we’re not collecting our paychecks until the shutdown is over”, meanwhile, they’re all still sleeping in comfy beds, in large, warm, private homes, eating large portions of freshly prepared food (in some [most] cases, probably prepared by a servant or at least a personal/professional chef), comfortable in the knowledge that their next meal is secure, and tomorrow night they’ll still be sleeping in a large, warm, comfortable bed, eating a big, healthy meal…
Their job is not to hold out for victory. The only losers in this cock war are US, the people. Their job is to come together and figure out a solution, some kind of middle ground. Nothing is going to please EVERYBODY, and thats as close as we get to having any kind of winner. Accept the little victories, and maintain the balance. Its a negotiation, not a last stand. The goal here is to keep the people happy, fed, and comfortable, and the government already does a bang up job at that. We don’t need grandstanding, we need professionals doing their jobs.

Fetterman doesn’t surprise me in the least. He’s folded like origami paper ever since he got elected on a labor platform.

Tim Kaine, forever a loser.

Schumer needs to go. Failure of leadership. Far too often the corporate Dems cave when real consequences are on the line. Even if he backed out, this deal was made with his blessing. He’s not fooling anyone.
Also super disappointed in Tim Kaine. I voted for him as Governor, Senator, and VP before I left VA. Thought he was better than this.
The silver lining is that this CR only takes us through to January. If the December vote fails, we’ll be right back here.

Compromise is how the sausage gets made in a normal functioning government.
I know it’s been so long since any of you have witnessed it.
Remember that time we got a balanced budget with a DEM in the WH and a GOP speaker?
Man those were heady times.

Two are retiring, and the other 6 aren’t up for re-election in 2026. They’re anticipating that no one will remember or care in 3-6 years. They’re probably right. The news moves so fast, imagine what we will be outraged about in 3 years.
Ted Cruz lead the second-longest shut down over the ACA. When he failed to stop Obamacare everyone thought it was a disaster. Except a week later Obamacare launched on [healthcare.gov](http://healthcare.gov) and the rollout was a disaster and that took over the media cycle. No one cared about Ted Cruz and his shutdown, everyone was upset that Obama fucked up the rollout.
So, we’re all angry right now but it won’t last. Sorry.

Fuck all of you. There was a resounding and unequivocal vote. It said “ your fight was righteous”. “This is not great but it is better than the alternative”. And all of you fucks said, “meh…. Gonna go a different way. I like losing”
