This would be more fitting to the 1204 sack since the crusaders entered the city through a hole in the wall which was already there due to bad maintenance.
The city fell because no one bothered to fix the walls.

Context since OP’s too lazy to post it. A major part of the final assault by the Turks in 1453 is a possibly apocryphal story that a small postern gate called the Kerkoporta was left open after a sally by the defenders (usually blamed on the Venetian contingent), allowing Turkish forces to stream in from there alongside the main breach.
*1453* is a great read about that btw, it flows like a novel.
