They have to have some plausability when the Trump regime falls. Just like Marjorie. Positioning themselves to try to not be caught up in the backlash.

    2. No, they probably are banking on their braindead viewers interpreting what he said as a bad thing. Only a communist villain would want to restore democracy, of course.

I think Gavin is who Trump wishes he looked like rather than the tub of spray painted lard he is

    4. No, but we are seeing a lot of formerly extreme right-wing American politicians trying to paint themselves as centrists. Cruz and Greene, most notably. They are seeing the writing on the wall for Trumpism, especially after the recent elections. Fox News will probably do the same.

Fox does not benefit (financially) from a dictatorship in the same way as from a semi-functional pseudo-democracy.

Fox runs off of division. You can’t get people riled up or motivated to continue to tune in if you’re simply a propaganda arm of an authoritarian government.

The technology to beam propaganda (and ads) directly into our brains doesn’t exist yet, and people can still turn off their televisions, so Fox needs to hedge a little and start working on making sure their audience is primed to be angry about something new.

Gavin is also very pro-business, so if Fox is going to pick any Democrat, it’s going to be him. Trump is for removing all the guard rails and restrictions, guardrails and restrictions that will be very difficult (if not impossible) to rebuild if we ever manage to remove MAGA from power. So why not start pushing for a pro-business Dem who will be more likely (than someone like AOC) to champion a corporate bailout to restart the American economy?

    6. Trump’s going to be as unpopular as he was the first time he failed to get reelected and the whole third term thing will die on the vine. The R replacement won’t be popular enough to avoid getting slapped down by the backlash so whoever gets nominated for the Democratic slot is probably going to be the next president. Fox might prop up Newsom because he’s an acceptably corporate option for the D nomination. Nobody who likes money and is also sane actually hates Newsom.
