This is how Uncle R is. I have two Uncles like this. Guess which ones I relate to and get along with the most? 😂

    1. Hahaha. Being an ass to someone worried about their health after a serious operation. Hysterical.

If I was the cousin, even if I did find that kind of joke funny, it would take everything out of me to act like I could deal with it while recovering.

For sure always fun to see how different families support each other through hard times ❤️‍🩹

    3. Those comments make the not you person seem like an insensitive asshole. I hope that’s not their real personality. They’ll be awful to this patient during recovery.

    4. Ha. I had a really serious surgery once and they brought my body temperature down some 10-20 degrees to protect me from brain damage.

But one side effect of supercooling your brain is… (wait for it)… BRAIN DAMAGE.

it definitely affected me – memory loss, couldn’t concentrate or read, but it cleared up after a few months.

(I think it did. One weird thing about this was it was hard to perceive. Not being able to follow a tv show or movie was my biggest clue)

    5. Brain surgery is, in my opinion, the most major op a person can have. My family member had it done and it saved their life for a while. They were forever changed. But it gave them nearly another two years of life.

I would guess it’s your uncle’s way of trying to cope, based on your comment around 16 mins ago. Poor timing and taste in this particular moment in the cousin’s life, but trying to cope in his own way. Weird stuff comes out of family members when initially trying to cope with life-changing news.

I wish your cousin all the best in their recovery.
