For those unaware, the US made its noncombat female servicemembers full-time after World War II (officially on June 12, 1948). When Korea broke out in 1950, there was actually such a concern about manpower shortages in the event it spilled over into a larger third world war that there was some serious talk about possibly drafting women into the military for the first time (but this was never implemented).
