The power lines on the right side of the road in this dash cam are what ignited the fuel in the UPS MD-11 Crash.

    1. The engines were already on fire prior to takeoff from what I can see in other videos. Obviously this didn’t help

I don’t think so. It was on fire before it left the runway. The large explosion/electrical flash was probably one of the wings being ripped open by a light pole.

    3. Man this sucks for the families of the pilots to watch all these. They obviously were trying but it’s one of those situations where you say “ohh shit they’re dead”

The power lines ignited the fuel? Not the massive fire plume from the left wing engine that fell off?

    5. I feel relative certainty that the heavily fuel-laden aircraft making an abrupt unscheduled rendezvous with terra firma, with a preexisting mobile fireball of what had once been a left engine, did not require those power lines to progress to the cartwheeling inferno it became.

Just an uneducated presumption on my part, of course.

    6. It’ll burst into flames with or without those power line, even without flames on the engine before hand, once a plane crashes with any significant impact the fuel on the wings will ignite.

Nah, it was already on fire.

Most likely, the fireball you see is when the wing hit the building and the tanks were ruptured.

    8. No, stop. The fire was already on the wing with -no- way to put it out. The engine decoupled from the wing, and the severed fuel lines were almost certainly broken in a way that prevented any method of cutting fuel. Them hitting the power line had no effect whatsoever on how the events played out.

As soon as the fire warning turned on in the cabin, they were doomed. They had nowhere near enough runway left to abort takeoff and their speed was too high. They had one engine working on a plane that is built for 2 minimum. They got dealt an unwinnable hand and nothing they could have done would have stopped the catastrophic fireball that awaited them at the crash

    9. There was already flame visible. Pretty much everything that was happening to the plane was enough to set off a spark.

It had enough fuel to get to Hawaii. 😞

      RIP

    10. Tonight on *Amateur Air Crash Investigation* an internet man who has seen a dash cam footage of the UPS plane exploding claims that the plane exploded because it hit the powerlines on its way down. The man,who will be referred to as Bob, claims that he has seen the Bruce Willis movie *Die Hard With a Vengeance* five times, believes that the plane exploded not because it was already on fire but because it hit the powerlines just like the helicopter in the movie *Die Hard With a Vengeance*.

    11. Engine 1 was already detached from the left wing (they found it near the runway). Fuel was dumping out of that pylon

Horrifying just unbelievable. How terrifying for the plane inhabitants. Catastrophe and then horror
