Because this has worked so well up until now.

    1. Trickle down economics is like communism; it’s great in theory but doesn’t work in practice.

If you want to help the poor, then offer a tax break to the rich person whose employees aren’t poor and raise the taxes on the rest.

They’ve siphoned off the collective wealth of the nation, their greed has no limit so they just keep taking more, there’s nothing to do but say fuck you and collecitvely take our money back.

Is it even possible for taxes on the rich to get any fucking lower than they already are?

    5. We’ve been trying this for 30 years and it hasn’t worked. Time to try something else.

    6. Ah the oat and sparrow theory, named because you feed the horse oats and the sparrows get to peck in the shit. A massive failure.

    7. One of my favorite logical inconsistencies with the American right. Y’know those “we have to go back” AI slop videos about how life was better in the 70s/60s/50s/40s? That if we get back to that type of American traditionalism, we’d clearly be a better country? Yeah babes, the top tax bracket from 1939-1980 did not fall below 70% once, and was above 90% from 1951-1963. Those years you want to go back to have taxation policies far, far to the left than the most leftist elected politicians in the US. We’ve been below 40% since Reagan took a sledgehammer to the engine of the American dream in 87.

    8. If this were true, why cant the rich all get together and start a country from scratch??? Where’s tf is John Galt?? Prove your point and go build a rich guy utopia

Corporations are cutting jobs left and right, Republicans are cutting social safety nets like SNAP, and are now trying to get rid of the Obamacare. On top of all of that, they are targeting private citizens and blatantly trampling on Constitutional rights… How has lowering taxes on the rich benefited the working class?

I know the details are kinda finicky, but the easiest thing to understand about the economy is that the more money is moving around, the healthier it is.

Corporations do not use money saved through tax breaks to buy things and add movement to the economy, they just use it for stock buybacks or simply hoard it.

This isn’t even in the realm of hypotheticals, we’ve seen it play out constantly in the real world since Reagan.

If you want to heat your basement, put a space heater in your attic. What helps the basement is a heat barrier from the cold air in the upper atmosphere. That can only be accomplished by an overheated attic.

“The capital investment that makes that possible comes from the rich”.

It sure does!  And they got to be rich byyyyyyyyy??????

Oh!  Exploiting the rest of us necessitating a system that has to take from them to give to the poor because otherwise the rich hoard every cent they can exploit out of the poor for themselves.

But, you know, rich good!  Poor bad and lazy!  Ugh.

If you want to help the poor, please help the rich!

What an idiot. We’ve been helping the rich for like the entirety of existence, it hasn’t done shit
