That’s a $150 clock radio in today’s dollars, kinda crazy.

$680 (2025 adjusted) for a starter stereo system (not even a Kenwood or Sansui), $266 for a battery powered radio that’s not even a real boom box, $144 for a clock radio, $95 for a hand-held mini game, $57 for a calculator. And I’m sure none of those were made in America, they were probably all made in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
It’s crazy seeing prices like that in 1980 in a time of inflation and recession. Radio Shack must have really thought people were loaded. We do have it easy these days.
