Horsemaning, also known as “headless posing” is a photographic technique where the subject creates the illusion of being beheaded, with their head placed on the ground or another surface. This unique form of posing gained popularity during the 1920s and was considered a photography trend at the time

Planking
This is so much easier to do when you actually have your head taken off. You can only do it once though. Twice if you’re unlucky.
And this morbidity caused the run on banks and the Great Depression.
Just goes to show, humans are humans, everywhere and everywhen you go.Â
I’m amused by this 1920s photography trend and whenever it comes up this photo is the only one ever shown. If it was a trendy thing to take photos like this where are the other examples?
Basically a 1920’s meme
> **Horsemaning** (or **horsemanning**) is the act of posing for a photograph in such a way that the subject appears to have been beheaded, their head resting on the ground or on a surface. Such photography was a fad in the 1920s. The practice derives its name from the Headless Horseman, an evil character from Washington Irving’s short story “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”.

> Horsemaning saw a revival in 2011, along with other photo fads such as planking and owling. All three were considered among the top 10 Facebook sensations of 2011 and a series of horsemaning photos began trending on sites like BuzzFeed as people were inspired to recreate the original fad. It has also become popular with beachgoers, one person is buried in the sand with her body covered and another person lies next to her with her head buried in the sand.

I was excited to see this trend had returned to Iraq of all places when I went to visit a while back. People just don’t have clean, wholesome fun like that anymore.
Is there a technique for this or is it just 2 people?
They really were like us fr fr
Don’t tell the TikTok crowd. Self beheadings will be everywhere.
