This isn’t particularly related to Libya itself, but it does remind me of how, after the defeat of France by Nazi Germany, some Arabs in Damascus (then still controlled by the French) were supposedly chanting “no more Monsieur, no more Mister, Allah’s in Heaven and Hitler’s on earth”.

The proliferation of Nazi support in the Arab world at the time is fascinating. I’m sure there were few illusions that they would be considered equals, but the western interventions were so great as to push one to Nazism
