In response states are generally offering direct donations to food banks & charities as states really can’t interfere with SNAP benefits directly. However this is of importance as it will be the point that for 41 million people they will now be required to live off from personal savings. Of these 41 million people, 26 million are elderly, disabled, or unfortunate folks who are unable to work, so they likely will be hit the hardest. In addition as I said medical insurance subsidies will also start to become impacted, so for a fair portion they will see their premiums increase by 2x-3x on average. some higher some lower. This is also the point where the weight on the shoulders of government workers begin to get exponentially heavier and some just refuse to return to work.
**Today** – November 3rd: We find out if the Trump Administration will ignore Judge rulings demanding they use contingency money that was set aside to fund SNAP. Historically SNAP has always been funded during shutdowns(it’s why it’s part of the contingency funds). This is the first time in history, that a sitting president is trying to bar funds from contingency funds from funding SNAP.
**2 Days** – November 5th: Will become the point where the shutdown breaks the record for longest running shutdown. Many are hoping/predicting that the shutdown comes to an end at this point as it allows the political circus to have their bumper sticker of “Well this side caused the longest shutdown ever”.
**7 Days** – November 10th: This will be the official start of the second week of November. It is estimated that at this point an overwhelming majority of people who were trying to survive off from saving will officially run out of saving. At this point people will be entirely reliant on charity and extreme measures. This is the point at which things start to get bad.
**14 Days** – November 17th: The start of the third week of November. If by some freak chance the shutdown last this long; which is hopefully very unlikely, it is at this point that many predict civil unrest & riots will begin to take place. This is the part of the story where we begin the conspiratorial & darker timeline where the President & GOP are purposely trying to instigate a violent reaction from the population so that they can enact the insurrection act and essentially declare martial law.
Now I wonder how long the government will stay shut down. SNAP recipients are not getting any befits until the government reopens. TSA agents and air traffic controllers are working with no pay. Airline companies are concerned with Thanksgiving travel with the government doesn’t reopen soon
