inner workings of the spinning equipment before leaving for New York City in 1789. By 1791, some of his equipment was operational, and by 1793, Slater had partnered with Moses Brown
to open a factory in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. By the time of his death in 1835, Slater was the owner of 13 textile mills and was reportedly worth $1.3 million, the equivalent of ~$1.12
billion in 2022.
