That’s wild. Wonder what happened to those doctors after or if medical schools include this case now in the education…

I hate that this guy went to jail. But no parent can watch their kid die and remain reasonable and logical. If there was even the slightest glimmer of hope you would grasp it no matter how unlikely. If he hadn’t gone to jail it would have given the green light to every parent whose child was tragically but actually brain dead to take the doctors hostage to try to force an impossible revival. This is the one case in 1,000 that proves medicine is a really hard field to be in, because the human body is so unpredictable.

    3. Wait his son survived? why were they gonna remove him from life support?

thats crazy, the doctors where just gonna kill him off?

The dad shouldnt have gone to jail.

This story does the rounds every few months, and it gets on my tits. The father was a violent drunk, was drunk at the time of the incident, and had (another) restraining order put on him from the family after the incident.

    5. ‘beligerent drunk pulls gun on hospital and gets incarcerated for aggrevated assault with a deadly weapon after non-drug abusing legal health care proxies (mother and brother of hospitalized) decide to pull plug’

within the drunks failed law suits against the doctors/hospital, he admits his son was not diagnosed as being brain dead despite stating the exact opposite to news media.

“Father contends that [doctor] incorrectly diagnosed his Son, who was admitted to TTHC for a stroke on January 8, 2015, as **not yet brain dead, but with a poor prognosis regarding neurological deficit**, and that there was a small window for Son to pass away peacefully by removing life support, rather than remain in a vegetative state.”

this aint facebook. never trust people like OP who post ‘news’ with photos and no sources.

    6. ~~What judge would send him to jail after that? Only one that is too focused on the word of the law rather than the spirit of the law.~~

^(Edit: My bad. I was misled and didn’t understand the specifics.)

    7. Why would medical staff take a patient off of life support without the family’s consent?
