Absolute gem of a performance in *Almost Famous*.

She certainly sparked at one point, had enviable screen presence and acting talent, but her career never quite ignited into a major motion picture career, perhaps because she came off as too intense or extreme for mainstream roles. She’s the classic “oddball in need of a mentor to steer her career” type who never got one, and less talented people prevailed. It’s a loss.

I remember watching Return to Oz as a kid. She was fantastic in that one.

Her and Debi Mazar were the two that really stood out to me as a kid back in the day. Those eyes are just amazing.

She was in The Sopranos as an FBI agent for 30 seconds but they recast the part. Would’ve been interesting to see what she did with it if they kept her.

Was there a knock off Fairuza Balk?

Me living downtown Los Angeles. I walk into a cafe where there is a line of a few people to order at the register. I’m looking up and the menu, the woman in front of me bends down to say hello to my dog. She asks for his name and when I look down to speak to her, it’s Fairuza Balk. Her very beautiful but also somewhat scary smile caught me completely off guard. We chatted for a bit, she wqs very sweet. My first celebrity encounter while living in LA.
