A non-insignificant people blamed Horner for being kidnapped, even, to a very limited extent, her own mother. When her daughter was rescued, Ella Horner repeatedly said, “Whatever she has done, I can forgive her.” That said, [she was extremely relieved, blamed herself as well, and cast nearly all of the blame on La Salle](https://www.newspapers.com/article/courier-post-sally-horner-mother-22-mar/98538359/). Her remarks were also tame compared to what others said about her daughter. On April 3, 1950, Frank La Salle entered a surprise guilty plea to kidnapping and was sentenced to 30 to 35 years in prison. The judge branded him a “moral leper”. LaSalle died while serving his sentence at Trenton State Prison on March 22, 1966, at the age of 69.

She didn’t make it to adulthood and died at 15 in a vehicle accident. On a seperate note I didn’t realize she was the inspiration for Vladimir Nabokov’s infamous novel Lolita
