Its the way that anime meddles between 2d and 3d that the noses are like that BUT most animes have normal 👀

Just to simplify it, makes it easier to draw. I always imagined this just literally being a small hole on the surface of the face to breath instead of having a nose.

    3. Eyes are the “window to the soul,“ the nose is… a voracious booger cavern?

Which do you think is more important to draw better?

    4. East Asian noses are generally not very defined and chiseled. It really is just how our noses look like.

    5. There are multiple reasons that I can think of.

Firstly it fits the artstyle, I draw anime too and I usually don’t specifically outline the nose since shading already does that for me and side profiles of the head does include a nose. If there is line art of the nose it is usually to exaggerate the nose or it’s something like a very short line.

Secondly, animation artists need to compensate for deadlines. During a episode of an anime series you will notice that the animation quality isn’t always at it’s full potential. Artists usually do things like not drawing noses, simple shading, less special effects, etc. It saves time for an artist that needs to draw 1000+ frames for a single episode.

And lastly it’s basically been set in stone that no-nose is a trend that will never die.

Edit: example of my own art, small line for the nose and shading doing most of the nose work.

I feel like their noses are just how we see our own in our vision. Because if I focus on my nose it looks like a triangle like that. Lmao but it’s probably actually a time saver. Imagine someone making a nose everytime suddenly you’ll have an usopp in once scene and voldemott in the next. Or how in you can tell in konosuba one team did an episode vs another due to how natural or perky their titties are.
A dot looks weird. Two dots doesn’t look the best. But just a little triangle? Yea. That looks good.
I hate the trend of SUPER SHARP pointy noses now. It kinda breaks the tension when i see a nose that could stab your eye out.

Cause most attention goes to the eyes first when people look at ones face not the nose. Its also a thing in real life (for most people).

And you can do more with the eyes than the nose.
