My local coffee shop uses upcycled milk containers as carriers

    1. Has the health department given their opinion yet? This doesn’t seem like it would pass modern food safety rules.

Love seeing small coffee shops finding creative ways to cut down on waste like this.

I have mixed feelings about stuff like this. You aren’t reducing any waste, just transferring ownership (traditional carriers can go in the compost, this can not).

ETA: cutting a hole in the container actually reduces the ability to be reused. What does the person do with it now? I’ve reused similar containers at home, but it was intact and had the lid still. Sorry, the more I think about this the more I absolutely hate it.

    4. Just a bit of a nitpick with the terminology: is this really upcycling? A milk container is a far more capable and impressive object than a carrier, if you think about it.

    5. I hate the term “Upcycle” this is great, but it’s just “reusing” not anything beyond that. First try to Reduce, then try to reuse, and if unable to do either of those then recycle it

    6. The brownish marks on its side are making me uncomfortable, even if it’s just dried glue

    7. Saw this last week, but can’t remember if its the same pic.. if its a new pic….that means yall live really close to eachother. Yall should meet at the coffee shop and become friends.
