Mind you, in the 90s the gay community was just barely starting to push towards acceptance. Tolerance was the goal.

Meaning “yes I hate it, yes I hate gays, but i won’t go out of my way to make you miserable”

These type of people memorize the Bible, without internalizing a word of what Jesus said. He would be so disappointed by these so-called “Christians” and how they treat their neighbors and the needy.

    3. Closeted lesbian getting called out. It’s super sad that these people have been forced to live like something is wrong with them. Fuck religion.

Her world view was being challenged. Her entire belief system on this one topic was being challenged. This was a mental breakdown on camera. She was confronted with truth and a different opinion and her brain couldn’t handle the possibility that she might be wrong on something she felt was such a solid point.

Let’s not forget that the particular scripture she quoted was misinterpreted from the original text. The translations were done by people who had an agenda and therefore were interpreted in such a way that they changed the entire purpose of that scripture.

Others have taken that misinterpretation and based their entire prejudice on that one, purposefully misinterpreted, scripture. They use it to demonize and attempt to hurt an entire demographic of human beings simply for existing as who they were born to be.

They would have to change who they are fundamentally so they hold on to their prejudice and fight anyone or anything that challenges it. It’s a classic and well documented response to what she is experiencing.
