    1. I tell everyone I know that “if I get deathly sick, i will go into the forest so no one has to see me pass”

    2. Still one of the scariest experiences I ever had in my life was when my mom, a cancer patient, collapsed in my living room cause she got overheated(in Florida, so heatwaves are a REAL issue in the summer) and I had to hold the phone to her on speaker cause she was arguing with 911 trying to get them not to send someone cause she didn’t wanna pay for it. Ultimately I got an ambulance and they took her to the hospital(where she had to stay for a day cuz her health dropped to shit) and my dad paid for it, but it still puts me in awe, knowing my mom was in a state where she could die, and she didn’t want the ambulance cause she was afraid she couldn’t afford it.

    3. Definitely true. I owe $1500 for a 3 mile trip to a hospital for my son. Yaaaaaay America 😬

    4. If you really want your heart attack to get worse wait until you hear the blades of the medical helicopter landing nearby.

you don’t have to pay for emergency services. well, your credit might take a hit. but still don’t have to pay for them. one could also just send the ambulance bill to their health provider. they will cover it 100%.

sure, the US doesn’t have universal health care available to absolutely everyone for free. but if you have a job and are in the low-moderate income range. you qualify for a Premium Tax Credit. and you can use that in the Health Insurance Marketplace. there are other ways to qualify for the PTC. and anyone else that doesn’t qualify all either don’t have a job or make plenty enough to pay their own premiums.

there’s zero excuse for anyone with a job to NOT have some form of health insurance.

    6. At a school I went to in Denmark (I’m Danish), we called an ambulance in for an American students. The other Americans there scrambled to find their savings in their closets, their shoes, their bags to pay for it – until we Danes explained not to.

That story about the guy that got hit by an ambulance who then took him to the hospital and gave him a massive bill, lmfao.
He sued them and won eventually but still crazy !

    8. In my town, homeowners have to pay the municipality $85 a year for their ambulance service. This reduces a ride fee by 50% $600-800 a ride now. It’s kinda worth it but it’s a hot button topic on the local FB group.
