If you genuinely want something like this but that doesn’t suck, buy a thick lead mechanical pencil. They make ones where the lead is as thick as normal pencil lead, and they’re really neat.

Just get some contractors pencils from a lumber yard, the fat rectangular ones. They’re designed to be sharpened with a pocket knife if you dont have a sharpener. Like 25 cents each.

normally we end up wasting 90% or more of the “lead” due to the math around sharpening it to a point/cone.
Essentially a cone is only 1/3 of the volume of a cylinder., but if you sharpen your pencil when the very point starts getting blunt, you end of eliminating most of it. See the short video
